Camp Common Folk, Donnelly River, WA

I heard about Camp Common Folk through a photographer I really admire, down the Instagram rabbit hole a little while back. I decided to sign up, as one of my resolutions this year was to do more networking with my peers. The main thing I wanted to get out of camp was more of a connection with other photographers, as I often find myself toiling away all alone, figuring out shit on my own and making up the rest. It’s actually really hard to try and put yourself out there, hoping that you’ll fit into friendship groups that already exist and people that hang out together, especially with other photographers that have been around for much longer than you and have ‘made it’ in your eyes. But everyone at the workshop was so approachable and friendly and probably actually all felt the same way, and I got so much more out of it than what I went into it expecting. Kudos to the brilliant and passionate kids behind the Common Folk Collective and the camp - here’s hoping the same vibe works it’s way across to all the eastern states too!
